Recreation & Inclusion

Sport and recreation are critical to our community health and well being with over 10,000 people playing football every weekend in Yarra Ranges during the football season.

Recreation facilities around the Valley are so important to our community and I have been proud of the achievements in my time on Council – improved football grounds, resurfaced tennis courts and upgraded or new pavilions and many more female changing rooms.

As a community we have achieve consistent funding from council for the Healesville Indoor (Jack Hort) Pool and recent Federal funding for its upgrade. Still more to be done and we need a pool (indoor and outdoor) that will be there for our communities for the next 50 years.

With over 20% of the community having disabilities, all council facilities and services much be inclusive and allow for everyone to join in. The past 4 years have seen new Changing Place facilities in Yarra Ranges, including at Yarra Glen, and a strong focus on improving access to all Council buildings.
